About the Program
The Medical Surgical Nursing Specialist Study Program is one of the study programs at the Faculty of Nursing, Unhas which focuses on knowledge in the field of nursing in dealing with patient problems through providing advanced nursing care and learning to patients and families as case managers who cannot be handled by generalist nurses/nurses.
Strengths
In 2023, the Medical Surgical Nursing Specialist Study Program was officially established after obtaining accreditation from the Independent Accreditation Institute for Health Universities (LamPT-Kes), as part of the Faculty of Nursing.
The permit for implementing the study program will be in effect from July 14 2023.

Learning Process
Learning takes place in the classroom for non-clinical based courses, while field practice is carried out for clinical based courses in various hospitals, both inside and outside the city of Makassar. Guest lectures are held in each course and carried out in other study programs or universities as an integral part of the curriculum. The final assignment involves a case study that results in a final scientific work in the appropriate medical surgical nursing specialist field of study.

Prospective graduates of the Medical Surgical Nursing Study Program are expected to be absorbed by various institutions as lecturers and researchers, as well as hospitals and other health service industries as clinical nurses. Prospective graduates are also expected to pursue careers as surgical nursing consultants, clinical case managers in internal care and surgical units, and entrepreneurs in the health sector.
