Hasanuddin University has officially issued Circular Letter No. 11627/UN4.1/PK.01.03/2026 on the Implementation of Academic Activities During the Month of Ramadan 1447 H, National Holidays, and Collective Leave in the Final Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year. The circular, signed on 13 February 2026, is the basis for adjusting working hours and the lecture scheme during the holy month of Ramadan.

Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., said the adjustment is designed to ensure that the academic process continues to run optimally while taking into account the circumstances of the academic community during the holy month of Ramadan.

“We want to make sure academic activities continue well, but also give lecturers and students room to observe Ramadan worship. The principle is flexibility without reducing learning outcomes,” explained Prof. JJ.

Under the circular, lectures for the Final Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year will still begin on 18 February 2026. However, for the first three days of Ramadan, lectures will be held online. During Ramadan, the duration of lectures will be adjusted by each Faculty/School while still referring to the course learning outcomes.

Prof. JJ added that the policy also takes into account the national holidays and collective leave stipulated in the Joint Decree of the Minister of Religious Affairs, the Minister of Manpower, and the Minister of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) on National Holidays and Collective Leave for 2026.

“Unhas is committed to maintaining a balance between academic quality and humanitarian aspects. The Ramadan moment must remain a productive space, both in worship and in the learning process,” added Prof. JJ.

To anticipate schedules that coincide with national holidays and collective leave, the university is providing additional time in the 17th and 18th weeks (15–26 June 2026) for lecturers who need to make up classes, either in person or online through the SIKOLA learning application platform or other learning media. In addition, student activities held during national holidays and collective leave must obtain approval from the leadership of the Faculty, School, or University.

Through this policy, Unhas demonstrates its commitment to adaptive academic governance that is responsive to national regulations and remains oriented toward the quality and continuity of the educational process at the university.(*/Mir)
