MAKASSAR – At the climax of the 70th Dies Natalis celebration, Hasanuddin University introduced five strategic programs designed to meet the needs of today’s campus while laying the groundwork for the university’s future development.

The five initiatives are Unhas Prime, the Unhas Excellent Program Indicator (EPI), the Campus Immigration Point (CIP Unhas), Unhas Satu Data (One Data), and the Critical Mineral Institute. The launch was marked by a button press by Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc, together with the Chair of the Board of Trustees (Majelis Wali Amanat), the Chair of the Academic Senate, the Unhas Alumni Association, and members of the South Sulawesi Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda).

Unhas Prime: Uniting Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Health

The program is developed with a more holistic approach to the health of the academic community. It combines physical, mental, and spiritual health in one system equipped with indicators and a database so that progress can be monitored continuously.

“We want Unhas Prime to be an example. It is a combination of physical, mental, and spiritual health programs merged into one program. It has indicators, it has a database, and it is continuously monitored,” said Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc.

Monitoring is carried out through medical check-ups (MCU) and strengthened psychological examinations. Mental health also receives attention through the measurement of stress levels and the identification of factors that influence them. With this database, the condition of the academic community can be mapped in a more measurable way as a basis for determining follow-up steps.

Unhas Excellent Program Indicator: Measuring the Quality and Well-Being of the Community

On the well-being side, Unhas introduced the Excellent Program Indicator (EPI) as an instrument to strengthen the quality and well-being of the community. The program is aimed at building indicators that can be used to measure and monitor well-being outcomes across the university.

Campus Immigration Point: Bringing Immigration Services to Campus

Meanwhile, CIP Unhas brings immigration services directly onto the campus. The service gives easier access to immigration administration needs, including visa and passport processing.

The presence of CIP Unhas is also tied to Unhas’s ambition to expand its international ecosystem, with a target of 1,000 international students in the coming years. This growth is expected to go hand in hand with a broader global network and growing interest from various countries in Unhas’s development.

Satu Data: Integrating Data for University Governance

In governance, Unhas has begun developing a one-data concept that integrates the various data available across the university. The system is intended to provide more unified information so that it can support decision-making and university management more effectively.

“This is a start for us to go further. We will develop one data system at Unhas,” said Prof. JJ.

Critical Mineral Institute: Strengthening Critical Mineral Research

Another breakthrough comes through the Critical Mineral Institute. The institute is being prepared to strengthen Unhas’s capacity for research, innovation, and collaboration in critical minerals, which are of strategic significance for the development of future technology and industry.

The five programs were launched at the moment of Unhas’s 70th Dies Natalis as part of a university development agenda increasingly oriented toward quality, data, internationalization, and strategic fields.

“Thank you for the support of all of you. This is a start for us to do more and to keep Unhas moving forward,” said Rector Prof. JJ. (*/dhs)
