MAKASSAR – Hasanuddin University (Unhas) is expanding its international collaboration network through a partnership with HPA Industries Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia. The collaboration, marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday (15 July), focuses on developing education, research, and innovation, and on strengthening synergy between universities and industry.
The MoU was signed by the Rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., and the Vice President of HPA International, Mr. Mohamad Nasuha Bin Hj. Ismail, in the Rector’s Office at Unhas, Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar.
HPA Industries Sdn. Bhd. is a Malaysian company engaged in herbal, health, and halal products. Using a research- and innovation-based approach, the company develops a range of natural health products that are already marketed in several countries. This experience makes HPA a strategic partner in promoting applied research collaboration, innovation development, and human resource capacity building.
Prof. Jamaluddin Jompa said the partnership is in line with Unhas’s commitment to strengthening internationalization through collaboration that delivers real benefits for the advancement of science and for society.
“Universities can no longer work alone in producing innovation that has an impact. Collaboration with industry partners is a necessity. We hope this cooperation will give rise to productive programs, from joint research to the development of innovations that add value,” said Prof. JJ.
For HPA International, collaboration with Unhas is a strategic step toward connecting the research capacity of universities with the needs of industry. Through this partnership, the two institutions will develop a range of collaborative programs, including joint research, exchange of lecturers and students, seminars and workshops, and other academic activities in their shared areas of expertise.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen international research networks while encouraging innovation that contributes to industrial development and sustainable development.(*/rsl)
