Hasanuddin University (Unhas) held the Joint Confirmation and Inauguration of Leaders of Student Activity Units (UKM) at the Hasanuddin University Level for the 2026 Period. The event took place at the Prof. A. Amiruddin Auditorium on Monday (9 February 2026).
The inauguration of the university-level UKM leaders was officially carried out by the Hasanuddin University Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes., Ph.D., SpBM(K). The event was also attended by the Unhas Director of Student Affairs and the Vice Deans I for Academic and Student Affairs from various faculties at Hasanuddin University.
After the inauguration, the event continued with the signing of an integrity pact by the UKM leaders as a commitment to running the organizations responsibly, transparently, and with integrity.
The program then continued with the presentation of certificates to the heads of UKM from the previous period.
For the 2026 leadership period, Unhas also officially established two new UKM, namely the Quranic Arts Development UKM and the Protocol UKM, which are expected to enrich the platforms for developing students’ interests, talents, and competencies. With these two additions, Unhas now has 40 university-level UKM.
In the guidance delivered, Prof. Ruslin expressed appreciation and thanks to all UKM leaders for their active participation in energizing and driving student activities at Hasanuddin University. Prof. Ruslin hopes that student involvement in UKM can become an important part of the self-development portfolio during their studies at Unhas.
“I believe each of the 40 existing UKM has its own color and character. We need all of them, and they are valuable activities, which can even be recognized as part of academic activities through the Competency Strengthening Courses (MKPK). Student activities are part of academic activities,” Prof. Ruslin said.
Prof. Ruslin further urged UKM to actively design creative activities, build networks, and open wider space for collaboration. Prof. Ruslin also invited the entire academic community with particular interests and hobbies to get involved in UKM activities, especially sports UKM, so as to create a campus environment that is livelier, healthier, and more inclusive.
This confirmation and inauguration is an initial moment for the UKM leaders to begin carrying out their organizational duties and to strengthen the role of UKM as a platform for developing students’ interests, talents, leadership, and character, integrated with the Unhas academic system.(*/kmhs)
