Unhas Open Day (UOD) 2026 recorded a significant surge in participation, with visitors reaching 2,006, nearly double the previous year’s 983. The enthusiasm was evident in the crowds over the two days of the event, with 966 visitors on Day One (Saturday, 7 February 2026) and 1,040 visitors on Day Two (Sunday, 8 February 2026).
The Head of the New Student Admissions (PMB) Subdirectorate of Hasanuddin University, Nurul Ichsani, M.Ikom, explained that UOD has become a regular event that schools now look forward to. In remarks after the closing of UOD 2026 (Sunday, 8 February), Nurul said schools evidently wait for the UOD moment. Many came in groups arranged by their schools.
UOD 2026 also offered a more engaging atmosphere than the year before. A number of faculties began developing creative approaches to attract participants.
“Many faculties have created fun quizzes and games to draw participants. This makes the interaction livelier and the visitor experience more enjoyable,” Nurul added.
It was further explained that UOD is not only a promotional event but also an educational means that helps prospective students understand their academic options more thoroughly.
“We hope that through UOD, our young visitors get a clearer picture of their study program options, whether for the national merit-based admission (SNBP), the national test-based admission (SNBT), or the independent admission (Mandiri) routes, so they can be more confident in choosing their study program,” Nurul explained.
The significant rise in UOD 2026 visitors is a strong indicator of growing public interest in and trust of Hasanuddin University as a study destination. With an increasingly interactive and informative format, UOD Unhas is expected to continue as a strategic event in the outreach and admission of new students in eastern Indonesia.
