Efforts to safeguard the integrity and credibility of the Computer-Based Written Test for the National Test-Based Admission (UTBK SNBT) continue to be reinforced through a more structured and consistent supervision system. This step is important to ensure the selection process is fair, objective, and transparent.
Hasanuddin University (Unhas) places proctors on the front line of maintaining the quality of the exam. Their role is not merely administrative but also key to ensuring that all procedures run in accordance with the rules.
Proctors are expected to be meticulous and to show integrity and strong commitment. Consistency in carrying out their duties is a decisive factor in the success of the UTBK SNBT, so that the quality of the selection process can be maintained in full.
Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc. said that UTBK proctors are fighters who carry a major responsibility for maintaining the quality of the exam. The role is not a mere formality but determines the credibility of the selection process. Through the proctors’ dedication, Unhas is expected to continue serving as a benchmark for UTBK administration in eastern Indonesia.
Prof. JJ further stressed that every proctor must work professionally, meticulously, and with high integrity. They must not only carry out their duties but also ensure the entire process is honest and fair, leaving no room for cheating.
“Unhas will not tolerate any form of cheating. Anyone proven to have violated the rules will face strict sanctions, up to being dismissed from Unhas. A strong commitment and a spirit of mutual oversight are needed, because what is at stake is not only the conduct of the exam but also the good name of the institution,” explained Prof. JJ.
Prof. JJ also referred to internal individuals who were involved in violations in a previous administration. Unhas has taken firm action without compromise against them, including dismissal, as a sign of its commitment to protecting the institution’s dignity. This was stated,
Lessons from that experience have pushed Unhas to keep improving its control system across the board. The entire academic community was reminded not to leave any room for any form of misconduct, and that Unhas takes a firm stance against all acts that violate the rules.
Prof. JJ delivered this message at a briefing for 1,128 UTBK SNBT proctors held at Baruga AP Pettarani, starting at 09:30 WITA (Central Indonesia Time), on Thursday (16 April). The briefing aimed to align perceptions and strengthen technical readiness before the exam.
As part of strengthening governance, Unhas earlier also held a briefing for 84 Site Coordinators (PJL) for the UTBK SNBT at the Amiruddin Auditorium Building, Faculty of Medicine, at 08:00 WITA on Thursday (16 April). There, Prof. JJ again stressed the importance of continuous improvement in supervision, ensuring that all parties share the same commitment to maintaining integrity.
Prof. JJ stressed that there must be no room, intention, or effort, however small, to help cheating occur.
At the briefing, participants were given information on the exam rules, including the forms of supervision and coordination carried out by proctors and PJL. The briefing is expected to help proctors and PJL carry out their duties and responsibilities well.
The UTBK SNBT at Unhas is held in 16 sessions, from 21 to 28 April, spread across 15 locations with 43 exam rooms. Supported by 1,128 proctors and 84 PJL, the whole series proceeds in a structured manner at the Tamalanrea and Gowa campuses. (*/mir)
