Three universities in South Sulawesi, namely Hasanuddin University (Unhas), Makassar State University (UNM), and the State Islamic University (UIN), signed a cooperation agreement for the 2026 central banking education program of Bank Indonesia . The signing took place on the 4th floor in the Baruga Phinisi Room of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for South Sulawesi Province on Thursday (2 April 2026).
Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for South Sulawesi Province, Rizki Ernadi Wimanda, expressed appreciation in remarks to the three universities for their support of the program. Rizki stressed that the program is also expected to produce young people who can become agents of change, particularly in the central banking sector. The program provides educational assistance, or scholarships, to students.
Bank Indonesia has set three main focuses in this cooperation: improving central banking literacy, supporting research, and providing educational assistance. In the previous year, the program reached 255 students. In 2026, the number of recipients increased to 270 students.
For the distribution of recipients, each of the universities, namely Unhas, UIN, and UNM, received an allocation of 80 students. For Unhas specifically, there is an additional quota of 30 this year for the Diploma 3 (D3) and Diploma 4 (D4) programs. Each recipient will receive assistance of Rp1 million per month until the end of their study period.
After the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU), the next stage is an administrative selection that will take place from 13 to 15 April 2026. The selection is intended for students in semesters 3 to 7, with top priority given to students from low-income family backgrounds who have good academic achievements.
Hasanuddin University itself will soon implement the recruitment process for prospective Bank Indonesia scholarship recipients. The Unhas Student Affairs office will consult with Bank Indonesia to discuss the technical details and registration specifics.(*/ams)
