Prof JJ: “A position is not a gift, but a trust that must be carried out professionally and with integrity.”
As part of a continuing strategy to strengthen leadership and academic capacity, Hasanuddin University (Unhas) again held a Ceremony for the Inauguration and Oath-Taking of Officials, the handover of Professor Position Decrees, and the return of lecturers who have completed Doctoral (S3) programs to Hasanuddin University.
The event began at 14:00 WITA (Central Indonesia Time) on the Ground Floor of the Rectorate Building, Unhas Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, on Monday (9 February). The ceremony was led in person by Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc. Also in attendance were the Chair of the Board of Trustees, the Academic Senate, the Vice Rectors, Directors, Heads of Bureaus, and Deans at Unhas, as well as the families of the inaugurated officials.
Unhas Rector Prof JJ expressed appreciation to the officials who have completed their terms, for their dedication and contributions in steering the campus’s many achievements. The Rector also stressed the importance of transferring knowledge and skills from outgoing officials to incoming ones as part of leadership continuity at Unhas.
“This inauguration is not merely a change of positions, but a change of roles. We remain one unit with one great goal. What has gone well must be continued, and what is not yet optimal must be improved together,” explained Prof JJ.
Prof JJ further reminded the new officials that the oath of office and the signing of the integrity pact are moral and institutional commitments that must be carried out with full responsibility. A position is not a gift, but a trust that must be carried out professionally and with integrity.
Prof JJ also stressed that Unhas is increasingly viewed as a world-class university, both nationally and globally. This position, Prof JJ continued, requires the entire academic community to keep moving forward and not be complacent.
“Unhas has become a reference in various aspects at the global level. This is a source of pride as well as a challenge to keep maintaining quality and competitiveness,” added Prof JJ.
Prof JJ also gave a message to the professors who received Professor Position Decrees, saying that the achievement marks the beginning of greater academic responsibility. Meanwhile, to the lecturers who completed Doctoral (S3) programs and were officially accepted back at Unhas, Prof JJ expressed hope that their presence will strengthen the institution’s academic and research capacity.
On the occasion, Unhas inaugurated 47 new officials. In addition, 23 lecturers received Professor Position Decrees, and 10 lecturers who have completed Doctoral (S3) studies were officially accepted back and are ready to carry out academic duties at Unhas. (*/mir)
