Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc, outlined the university’s developments and strategic achievements at the February 2026 Graduation Period, Academic Year 2025/2026. The graduation ceremonies were held on Tuesday and Wednesday (3 and 4 February 2026) at Baruga A.P. Pettarani, Unhas Campus, Tamalanrea.

Unhas continues to affirm its identity as a reputable university, both nationally and globally. Unhas’s many achievements reflect the institution’s commitment to building an academic ecosystem that is excellent, competitive, and impactful.

“Unhas’s achievements are not born of individual work, but of the synergy of all elements of the academic community. Collaboration among lecturers, education staff, students, alumni, and strategic partners has shaped a work culture that is solid, adaptive, and oriented toward shared progress,” said Prof JJ in the remarks.

Unhas stressed the importance of strengthening a scientific culture that is open, inclusive, and globally oriented as the foundation for improving academic quality and research. These efforts are part of a strategy to raise international reputation and prepare an academic community that is adaptive, collaborative, and able to contribute to the advancement of knowledge at the global level.

One strategic initiative that continues to be developed is the Thematic Research Group (TRG), which has proven able to increase the exposure of Unhas academics nationally and internationally, while opening opportunities for collaboration with universities and research institutions across countries.

One tangible expression of this commitment is the holding of the Nobel Laureate Lecture, which brings Nobel-winning scientists to campus as part of a strategic step in the internationalization of the university. This moment opens space for scientific dialogue and expands networks and research collaborations that benefit the Unhas academic community and Indonesia.

Unhas’s strengths are further reinforced through extensive international collaboration. To date, Unhas has established strategic partnerships with 909 international institutions spread across 45 countries. These partnerships open opportunities for students and lecturers to take part in joint research, academic exchanges, and various innovative programs that support global competitiveness.

“Make the best use of this international network. The collaborations that have been built belong not only to the university, but also serve as access for alumni to keep growing, whether in academia, industry, or entrepreneurship,” said Prof. JJ.

Closing the remarks, Prof JJ advised that graduation is not the end of the academic journey, but the beginning of a new responsibility to put knowledge and expertise into practice in service to society, the nation, and the state. (*/mir)
