MAKASSAR – Amid intensifying global competition in higher education, Hasanuddin University continues to strengthen the quality of its international learning as part of its strategy to build institutional competitiveness worldwide.

These efforts are reflected not only in international research and publication achievements, but also in the development of an education system that adapts to the needs of cross-border learning.

The commitment was discussed at the “Workshop on the Development and Strengthening of the Quality of Hasanuddin University’s Excellent and Globally Competitive International Classes,” organized by the Institute for Quality Assurance and Education Development (LPMPP) of Unhas at the Unhas Hotel and Convention on Tuesday (19 May).

The workshop was attended by heads of study programs and faculty representatives across Unhas as part of a joint effort to strengthen the governance and quality of international class delivery.

The workshop served as a forum to consolidate the management of international classes at Unhas, while also strengthening academic standards, governance, and learning systems that adapt to the dynamics of global education.

Chair of LPMPP Unhas, Prof. Dr. lr. Musrizal Muin, M.Sc, explained that strengthening international classes is an important part of supporting the achievement of international accreditation and improving institutional competitiveness.

According to Prof. Musrizal, Unhas has developed guidelines for managing international classes over the past two years as a reference to ensure that governance, the learning process, and curriculum implementation are carried out in a standardized way.

“Without clear standardization and formulation, the management of international classes will not run optimally. That is why strengthening systems and governance is important,” Prof. Musrizal explained.

Prof. Musrizal added that these standards are expected to support learning that is more measurable, integrated, and relevant to global needs.

Meanwhile, Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc. stressed that developing international classes is aimed not only at improving the institution’s reputation, but also at strengthening the university’s contribution to producing globally competitive human resources.

According to Prof. JJ, strengthening international classes needs to be built on a spirit of collaboration and shared growth among national universities and international partners.

“International classes are expected to become Unhas’s global showcase and an important part of the path toward becoming a world-class university,” said Prof. JJ.

Prof. JJ further emphasized that Unhas is oriented not only toward academic achievement, but also wants to produce graduates with a global outlook, adaptability, and readiness for the international job market.

Through this workshop, Unhas is encouraging the development of an education system that is increasingly inclusive and competitive, and able to strengthen the position of Indonesian universities in the global education ecosystem. (*/dhs)
