The Computer-Based Written Exam (UTBK) at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) officially ended on 28 April 2026. Over eight days, the exam was held in 16 sessions at two locations: the Tamalanrea Campus and the Gowa Campus.
Of the 18,971 registered participants, 18,369 attended, a rate of 96.83 percent. Meanwhile, 602 participants were recorded as not taking the exam.
This year’s UTBK applied stricter supervision than the previous year. In addition to infrastructure such as CCTV and technology-based monitoring systems, Unhas also strengthened its human resources, including room proctors, technical staff, and IT administrators. To improve cheating mitigation, Unhas also involved officers from the cybercrime unit of the South Sulawesi Regional Police.
Unhas Rector Jamaluddin Jompa had earlier stated that there would be no tolerance for any form of cheating. The statement responded to last year’s UTBK, which drew attention because a number of violations were found.
This year, the supervision team did find some indications considered suspicious, such as mismatches between participants’ faces and their identity photos, behavior by participants deemed unusual, and registration patterns considered anomalous. However, after a review by the monitoring team together with police officers, no evidence of cheating was found.
Unhas Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, who is also Chair of the UTBK Organizing Committee, Muhammad Ruslin, explained that the entire UTBK process at Unhas strictly followed the technical guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the central committee.
“The UTBK at Unhas follows all provisions from the central committee, in terms of technical matters, supervision, and the management of the exam. We did this to ensure the exam ran smoothly without obstacles, and also to foster public trust in a fair selection process,” said Prof. Ruslin.
Beyond supervision, the smooth running of the UTBK was also supported by the involvement of various units at Unhas. The Campus Infrastructure and Utilities Management Technical Implementation Unit (UPT PPUK) ensured the availability of electricity and water, the General Bureau handled equipment needs, while the Human Resources, Law, and Institutional Affairs Division coordinated supervision. The Occupational Health and Safety (K3) unit was also placed on standby to support security and safety during the exam.
Overall, this year’s UTBK at Unhas ran smoothly without any notable incidents. No violations amounting to cheating were found throughout the exam.
The Unhas Rector expressed appreciation for this year’s UTBK, particularly because no cheating was found.
“Last year we were in the national spotlight because of the many cheaters, even from within our own ranks. I stated clearly that there would be no compromise. As a result, this year no one dared to try cheating at Unhas anymore,” said Prof. JJ.
The Rector hopes that this year’s UTBK results will yield new student candidates with good academic quality and integrity as provisions for pursuing higher education. (*/Ir)
