Universitas Hasanuddin and Sapporo Heart Center Japan agreed to collaborate in academic exchanges for students of the Faculty of Medicine. This agreement was stated through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Executive Director, General Manager of Sapporo Heart Center (Kevin Kosaku Samon), and the Rector of Unhas (Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA).
The activity took place starting at 11.00 WITA offline by adhering to the Covid-19 prevention protocol, in the Unhas Rector Meeting Room, 8th Floor, Unhas Rectorate Building, Wednesday (9/2).
Sapporo Heart Center Japan is a health facility specializing in cardiovascular disease (cardiovascular medicine / cardiovascular surgery), performing detailed examination and treatment for heart diseases such as acute myocardial infarction, angina, heart failure, hypertension, arrhythmias, and lower extremity arteriovenous (ASO, varicose veins, etc.).
On this occasion, the Rector of Unhas Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA., said that this collaboration is in line with the Integrated Heart Center owned by the Wahidin Soedirohusodo Hospital Makassar that has been in hand to fulfill the implementation of Unhas medical education.
“This collaboration will be favorable to increasing competence in medical science, especially in the Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS). We will further discuss how the academic exchange program will be carried out and adjusted to the shared curriculum,” Prof. Dwia explained.
Furthermore, Prof. Dwia hopes that this collaboration can also pioneer collaborative research opportunities through exchanges between lecturers, students, and researchers to produce a number of functional research results in medical science.
Kevin Kosaku Samon, as Executive Director, General Manager of Sapporo Heart Center stated that Universitas Hasanuddin is one of the foremost partners in carrying out strategic programs in medical fields.
“The medical facilities owned by Unhas really support the quality of medical education reaching the international sphere to increase professional health services. Seeing this fact, Sapporo Heart Center sees an opportunity to collaborate with Unhas” Kevin Kosaku said.
Next, the meeting was proceeded with a joint discussion to discuss the strategic program that will be carried out, as well as several required documents to be prepared as a follow-up to the collaboration.
