Hasanuddin University (Unhas) received a courtesy visit from a director at the Agency for Pancasila Ideology Education (BPIP), Sadono Sriharjo, S.T., M.M., and his delegation. The visit was formally received by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Farida Patittingi, S.H., M.Hum., on behalf of the Rector of Unhas. The event began at 14:00 WITA (Central Indonesia Time) in the Rector’s Room on the 8th floor of the Unhas Rectorate Building, Tamalanrea Campus, Makassar, on Friday (26 September).

During the meeting, Sadono stressed the importance of strengthening the character of students, particularly those of Generation Z. In today’s digital era, students obtain information from a wide range of platforms, including social media and artificial intelligence (AI) technology. This situation calls for more systematic character strengthening through the Pancasila Education course.

“We are working to hold training for Pancasila Education lecturers, particularly training focused on developing students’ character. What is more, People’s Schools (Sekolah Rakyat) are now also in place as one of the platforms for this development,” Sadono explained.

Responding to this, Prof. Farida said that the idea of strengthening character through Pancasila Education is in line with the commitment of Unhas to producing graduates who are not only academically outstanding but also people of integrity.

“At the very least, through this course we shape character in line with character-strengthening standards. Our hope is that Unhas students can become a high-achieving generation with a strong moral foundation,” Prof. Farida explained.

The collaboration between BPIP and Unhas is expected to further strengthen the role of higher education institutions in reinforcing Pancasila values among students. In this way, Unhas graduates will be able to face global challenges while holding firm to the nation’s identity. (*/da/mir)
