60 tonnes of vannamei shrimp from 11 ponds
Since August, the Unhas aquaculture ponds in Tamalate Village, Jeneponto, have yielded about 60 tonnes of vannamei shrimp through partial harvests that began in June. “From an academic standpoint, the Unhas aquaculture ponds in Jeneponto also serve as a space for applying and developing knowledge in fisheries,” said Rector Prof. Jamaluddin Jompa.
Alope chickens for families in Barru
In the first stage of a poverty-reduction program, 31 families from nine villages received chicks, ducks, and seedlings.

Urban farming with people with disabilities

Campus leftovers become feed
Between 24 August and 18 September 2026, the Faculty of Animal Science turned 2,830 kilograms of food scraps from Unhas Hotel & Convention, the Unhas SPPG, and Hadin F&B into a growing medium for black soldier fly larvae — about 134 kilograms a day. The larvae’s biomass could become alternative feed for livestock and poultry.

Prof. Heidi Halbwirth (TU Wien, Austria) lectured on anthocyanins as natural food colorants at the Unhas Faculty of Agricultural Technology.

1,449 appropriate-technology products from KKN 116
The 5,062 students of community service wave 116 designed solutions with local communities: 1,817 business and industry products, 1,449 appropriate-technology products, and 428 arts and culture works.

1,121 funded student projects
In 2026, 1,121 Unhas Student Creativity Program (PKM) proposals were funded, and Unhas won three awards at the 2026 PKM Award.

Learning solar energy in East Fakfak
Patriot Expedition Team VII introduced a mini solar dryer for nutmeg and a solar learning kit to residents, teachers, and public-service staff in Weri–Saharey.
