From 5 to 20 May 2026, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Hasanuddin University (UNHAS), proudly hosted the Global Leadership Programme (GLP) initiated by the Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies (FBMP), Management and Science University (MSU), Malaysia. The program marked a significant step toward strengthening internationalization efforts and fostering cross-border academic collaboration between Indonesia and Malaysia.
The MSU GLP is a comprehensive initiative designed to equip students with the leadership potential, professional skills, and global mindset necessary to pursue truly international careers. By bridging academic concepts with real-world practice through study, volunteering, and global engagement, the program is tailored to shape the leaders of tomorrow.
For this specialized two-week program in Makassar, MSU brought a delegation of 27 participants, comprising 25 students and two Lecturers : Dr. Mughaneswari Sahadevan, an expert in International Business, Freight Forwarding, and Cross-Cultural Management, and Abd Shukoor bin Mohd Yunus, specializing in Law, Human Rights, Data Protection, and International Business Law.
Centered around the core subject of Freight Forwarding, the comprehensively managed itinerary successfully integrated academic exchange, cultural immersion, industry exposure, and community service.
With the participation of 13 FEB UNHAS students, The delegation’s academic journey at UNHAS included an immersive Cross-Cultural Class, where MSU delegates and FEB UNHAS students from various disciplines exchanged ideas and benchmarked the unique cultural nuances of South Sulawesi and Malaysia.
This exchange of perspectives was further enriched by inbound lectures delivered by the visiting MSU Lecturers. Mohd Yunus Abd Shukoor presented on “Transborder Data Migration and Data Retention in Navigating International Business,” shedding light on the critical intersections of privacy rights and technology. Meanwhile, Dr. Mughaneswari Sahadevan delivered a compelling session titled “Cross Cultural: Why Does It Matter?”
To showcase the university’s expansive infrastructure, the delegates were given a comprehensive campus tour stretching from the Tamalanrea campus to the Engineering campus in Gowa. The academic engagement peaked during a Research Colloquium held at the FEB UNHAS Senate Room, where the visiting lecturers interacted directly with faculty leaders, professors, and postgraduate students to discuss future collaborative research avenues. The delegation also expanded their academic network through a dedicated sharing session with the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM).
Aligning directly with the program’s primary academic focus, the delegates participated in an exclusive Company Visit to PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) Regional IV. Hosted directly by the General Manager of Pelindo Regional IV, Mr. Iwan Sjarifuddin, the students received in-depth, practical insights into maritime logistics, port business processes, and the strategic importance of freight forwarding operations across Eastern Indonesia.
Beyond the classroom and corporate boardrooms, the MSU delegates experienced the breathtaking natural heritage of South Sulawesi. They participated in a Community Service Program at the renowned Karst Rammang-Rammang, followed by an educational Geovisit traversing the local waterways of Kampung Berua and the Stone Forest, allowing them to appreciate the region’s environmental and cultural preservation efforts.
The success of the two-week program concluded with an official dinner hosted by the Faculty Officials. The event celebrated the strong professional bond forged between the two institutions.
Prof. Dr. Mursalim Nohong, S.E., M.Si., Dean of FEB UNHAS, expressed his optimism for the future, stating, “Hopefully, this moment is not a closing chapter, but rather one that opens all doors of collaboration between FEB UNHAS and FBMP MSU.”
The MSU delegation expressed profound appreciation for the exceptional hospitality and professional event management they experienced throughout their stay. “We did not expect to be hosted, guided, and given an opportunity like this,” remarked Dr. Mugi, capturing the success of a program that seamlessly blended global education with unparalleled local engagement.
