UNIVERSITAS HASANUDDIN

Hasnauddin University and the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing Agree to Collaborate on Tridarma Development.

Hasanuddin University (Unhas) and the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing agree to cooperate in the field of Tridarma (education, research, and community service) development. The collaboration was formalized by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Rector of Unhas (Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc) and the Education and Culture Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing (Yaya Sutarya). The activity began at 10.00 WITA virtually through the Zoom meeting application on Friday (10/14).

To begin with, Yaya Sutarya expressed his enthusiasm for being able to establish a partnership with Unhas. He said that the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing began to actively normalize education, one of which was by establishing partnerships with Indonesian universities after the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, Yaya also explained the education program facilitated by the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing.

“Since the pandemic, there has been a decline in cooperation with universities. So, we began to re-optimize collaboration, including with Unhas. We hope that this partnership can help Unhas improve its WCU reputation and produce more quality human resources,” Yaya explained.

On the same occasion, Prof. JJ in his speech expressed his gratitude for the collaboration between Unhas and the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing. He said that Unhas continues to strive to expand cooperation with various parties, both national and international, including strategic partners who are becoming the direction of educational development, such as in large American countries.

“As a new leader, of course, we have a commitment to strengthen cooperation with Beijing. We hope that in the future, this partnership is not only about language and culture but also covers various sectors. Considering that Unhas is present not only as an audience but also wants to be involved in encouraging the strengthening of the nation through increased collaboration with diverse parties.” explained Prof. JJ.

In general, this collaboration will be implemented by the Unhas Faculty of Cultural Sciences, more specifically in the Chinese Language and Culture study program with the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing. So, it is hoped that in the future, collaboration can be expanded to include other study programs to help strengthen human resources through different strategic efforts, such as helping with education.

After the signing, the event continued with a joint discussion to explore several opportunities for cooperation that can be carried out. In this activity, the leadership of FIB Unhas and lecturers of the Chinese Language and Culture Study Program were also present. The activity went smoothly until 11.00 WITA.
