SNPMB Outreach in Toraja: Unhas Stresses Admission Results Are Available Only Through Students’ Portal Accounts
The Directorate of Academic and Student Affairs at Hasanuddin University (Unhas) held an Outreach and Promotion session for the National Selection for New Student Admission (SNPMB) at SMAN 1 Tana Toraja. The event gave students a place to obtain valid information about admission routes to state universities.
The event took place in the SMAN 1 Tana Toraja hall starting at 09:30 WITA (Central Indonesia Time) on Thursday (22 January). The resource persons were the Unhas Director of Education, Prof. Dr. Risma Illa Maulany, S.Hut., M.NatRest., the Head of the New Student Admissions Subdirectorate, Nurul Ihcsani, S.Ikom., M.Ikom., and the Head of the Unhas Career Center, Burhan Kadir, S.S., M.A.
The speakers explained the new student admission selection mechanisms, from the national track and the independent track to the various scholarship schemes available to prospective students.
The Head of the Unhas New Student Admissions Subdirectorate, Nurul Ihcsani, S.Ikom., M.Ikom., explained that Unhas also provides a special track for prospective students with disabilities as a sign of its commitment to inclusive education.
“Unhas opens equal opportunities through the disability track. However, data accuracy and understanding of the information are very important in the registration process,” explained Nurul Ichsani.
Nurul Ihcsani also issued a firm appeal regarding information on applicants’ admission results. This information can only be known by each student who owns the account. Nurul Ihcsani therefore reminded students not to easily trust individuals who claim they can provide or promise admission.
“All official information, from admission results to the UKT amount, can only be accessed through each student’s own portal account. Do not trust anyone who claims they can get you admitted,” Nurul Ihcsani stressed.
On the same occasion, Prof. Risma reminded students to look carefully at their choices of campus and study program. Prof. Risma explained that Unhas has several campuses that work with local governments to run certain study programs, complete with supporting learning facilities.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Unhas Career Center, Burhan Kadir, S.S., M.A., presented Unhas’s independent track, particularly the Selection Capability Optimization Program (POSK), as an alternative for students who did not succeed through the national selection tracks.
The question-and-answer session was lively. One student asked about the relevance of supporting certificates to the study program chosen in the selection process. In response, Prof. Risma explained that certificates do not have to be linear with the intended study program, as long as they reflect the student’s potential and achievements.
Closing the event, Prof. Risma gave tips on choosing a study program. Prof. Risma advised students to consider the subjects they like and that are relevant to their interests, given that Unhas takes a multidisciplinary approach to education that is adaptive to future needs.
The entire event ran smoothly until 13:00 WITA and closed with a group photo session. The Unhas team is scheduled to hold an outreach session at SMAN 1 Rantepao, North Toraja. (*/mir)
