About the Program
The Marine Science Program is dedicated to advancing knowledge and applications in Ecology, Marine Resources Conservation, and Coastal Community Development.
Strengths
Established in 1988, the Department of Marine Science began offering the Marine Science Study Program. In 1996, the Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries was established, further solidifying the program's foundation. Accredited as "UNGGUL" by BAN-PT, our program is recognized for its excellence in education and research.
Areas of Specialization
The Marine Science specialization offers a wide range of areas of focus, including Genetic Conservation, Environmental Impact Analysis, Anthropology and Maritime Community Communication, Navigation and Maritime Affairs, Marine Natural Materials, Oceanographic Modeling, Mariculture Management, Scientific Diving, Coastal Geomorphology, Marine Ecotourism, Management of Marine Protected Areas, Management of Coastal and Marine Areas, Parasites and Diseases of Marine Biota, Bioremediation, Coastal and Marine Spatial Planning, Hydrographic Survey, and Marine Project Management.
Learning Process
The learning process in the Marine Science program includes classroom instruction, field practice, and laboratory work, including internships in government and private agencies.
Additionally, students have the opportunity to take courses at other study programs or universities as part of their curriculum, enriching their educational experience. The final assignment for students is a research thesis, allowing them to explore a specific area of interest within marine science and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
