About the Program

The Marine and Coastal Aquaculture Study Program is one of the programs offered at the Faculty of Vocational Studies, aimed at producing skilled human resources capable of managing fisheries and marine resources, with a particular focus on the marine and coastal aquaculture sectors.

Strengths

  • In 2022, the Marine and Coastal Aquaculture study program was officially established under the auspices of the vocational faculty and is located in the Selayar Islands district.
  • The program received a "Good" accreditation, which is valid from December 12, 2023, awarded by BAN-PT.

Areas of Specialization

The Marine and Coastal Aquaculture specialization consists of:

  • Fish and shrimp hatchery
  • Fish and
    shrimp rearing
  • Seaweed aquaculture
  • Natural feed culture
  • Genetics and diseases of
    aquaculture organisms.

Learning Process

Learning is carried out offline and hybrid (online), as well as through practicum, which has a greater percentage than theory carried out in laboratories, industry, and government.
Learning is also carried out outside the campus, including through student exchanges, student internships, and several other MBKM programs, final project or prototype.

Career Prospects

The Marine and Coastal Aquaculture is the first study program that focuses on the competency of graduates to carry out marine and coastal cultivation, so the competency of The Marine and Coastal Aquaculture Study Program graduates is very different from that of other study programs in other areas.The Marine and Coastal Aquaculture currently does not have alumni, so graduate user information cannot be displayed. However, based on the results of the job market assessment in the field of aquaculture, South Sulawesi has great potential for absorbing skilled workers in aquaculture. Aquaculture companies are found in several areas of Sulawesi, so there is a big opportunity for The Marine and Coastal Aquaculture graduates to take part in these companies. Not to mention that the need for workers in the cultivation sector in Indonesia is still wide open for The Marine and Coastal Aquaculture graduates.
