The Faculty of Law of Hasanuddin University Conducts a Working Visit to a Renowned University of the Netherlands Discussing the Expansion of Partnerships

Faculty of Law, Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) conducted a working visit to the famous Dutch university Faculty of Law Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. The visit led directly by the Dean of the Faculty of Law Unhas (Prof. Dr. Hamzah Halim, S.H., M.H., M.A.P) was officially received by the Dean of the Faculty of Law Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Prof. H. Battjes) on Wednesday (09/11).

Dean of the Faculty of Law Unhas, Prof. Dr. Hamzah Halim, S.H., M.H., M.A.P., explained that in general the visit was in the context of friendship and joint discussions related to the expansion and extension of cooperation between the two parties that had previously been carried out.

“The purpose of our visit is to ensure the development of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the two institutions, as well as to explore opportunities for extension of cooperation. The success of the current MoA achievement is a benchmark for the sustainability of further cooperation,” explained Prof. Hamzah.

Furthermore, Prof. Hamzah said that in the future FH Unhas together with the Faculty of Law Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam will expand the scope of partnerships such as student exchanges, guest lecturer visitations by both faculties, collaborative research writing and publications.

He also said, FH Unhas will continue to expand the range of partnerships with various educational and government agencies as part of achieving the university’s main performance indicators. In general, the visit of the Faculty of Law Unhas group was warmly received by the leadership of the Faculty of Law Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

The two parties discussed together to evaluate the achievement of cooperation in strengthening academics. Prof. Hamzah said that the Faculty of Law Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam was interested in sending Bachelor and Master program students to take part in the student exchange program at the Faculty of Law Unhas as well as the prospect of exchange of knowledge.

“The planned collaboration will also be carried out in the aspect of research in the issue of refugee law or agrarian law, as well as the possibility of sending several researchers from the Faculty of Law Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam to study legal issues in the history of Dutch colonialism during the colonial period, especially related to the return of historical objects belonging to Indonesia that were seized by the Dutch colonial government,” added Prof. Hamzah.
