Hasanuddin University marked National Occupational Safety and Health (K3) Month at the Ballroom of Hotel Unhas & Convention on Wednesday (11 February). The event reflects Unhas’s commitment to strengthening a culture of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) in higher education.
The Unhas K3 Unit is under the Directorate of Human Resources and is technically managed by the Subdirectorate of Safety, Occupational Health, and Welfare (K3K).
Unhas Director of Human Resources (SDM) Prof. Dr. dr. Idar Mappangara, Sp.PD, Sp.JP(K) said that marking National K3 Month is a strategic moment to affirm Unhas’s role as a state university that focuses not only on advancing knowledge but also on the real application of K3 in all institutional activities.
“This year’s theme reflects Unhas’s role as a center of scholarly development and at the same time an implementer of K3. It shows a strong commitment to occupational safety and health as part of organizational culture,” said Prof. Idar.
K3 implementation at Unhas has entered its fourth year and continues to be strengthened by building a safety-based work culture, patience in developing the system, and perseverance in carrying it out.
“K3 must be a value embedded in every work activity and aligned with human resource development,” said Prof. Idar.
University Secretary Prof. Ir. Sumbangan Baja, M.Phil., Ph.D. officially opened the K3 Month event. In the opening remarks, the University Secretary stressed that K3 relates to many aspects of working life and is not enough to be understood only conceptually.
“K3 is not only to be known; most importantly, it must be implemented in practice. Commitment and consistency in applying it are the key to building a safe and sustainable work environment,” stressed Prof. Sumbangan.
Through this seminar, Unhas affirms its role in building a professional, reliable, and collaborative K3 management ecosystem, as part of efforts to create a safe, healthy, and sustainable work and academic environment. (*/dhs)
