Former rector of Hasanuddin University, Minister for Poverty Alleviation, and Indonesian Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Prof.Dr.H.Basri Hasanuddin, M.A. was elected as Chairman of the Wali Amanah (trustee of trust) of Hasanuddin University for the first period of 2016-2018.
Basri Hasanuddin was elected by deliberation and consensus at the first meeting of MWA on Friday (4/3) afternoon, led by the Rector of Hasanuddin University Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu and was attended by other members of MWA, Vice President M.Jusuf Kalla who is also Chairman of the Alumni Association of Hasanuddin University, Minister Ristekdikti represented by Directorate General of Education and Student Affairs Prof. Intan Achmad, South Sulawesi governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Asmawi Syam, S.E. M.M. who is also main director of PT Bank BRI and other MWA members, Chairman of the Academic Senate of Hasanuddin University Prof.Dr.H.M.Tahir Kasnawi, S.U.
Basri accompanied by two vice-chairmen, namely Prof.Dr.Ir.H.M.Natsir Nessa, M.S. and Asmawi Syam, while the Chairman of the Audit Commission Prof.Dr.dr.Idrus A.Paturusi with Executive Secretary Prof.Dr.A.Pangerang Moenta, SH., M.H.
The vice president M.Jusuf Kalla in his speech said that, under the organization of Legal Entities State Universities (PTN BH), in the future is how Hasanuddin University can involve the community to grow better. The government in the next future will not reduce the education budget, but what matters is how universities prepare the generations in the future. Currently, the government provides Educational Fund Management Institution (LPDP) with an allocation of 3,000 scholarships for further education abroad. But is fulfilled only 1000 more people.
''We can no longer boast the past, but we should talk about the future. If the museum talked about the past, the college just prepare the future, '' said JK in MWA meeting which lasted about three hours.
According to JK, there is a mistake in our concep to developed the physical of university to the traditional way but it must be oriented to the future and modern. That's why we build the Engineering Faculty of Hasanuddin University in Gowa with modern concepts so the students look to the future.
''If our generation is brought into the future, they will feel left far behind so they will get used to compete, '' said JK.
Rector of Hasanuddin University Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu previously reporting, MWA members numbering 19 peoples, includes Minister of Ristekdikti, the Governor of South Sulawesi, Rector, Chairman of the Academic Senate, the Chairman of the alumni association of Hasanuddin University, and Chairman of the Student Senate or another term. MWA members of the community leaders comprising: Prof.Dr.H.Basri Hasanuddin, M.A., Gita Wiryawan (former Minister of Commerce), and Asmawi Syam (main director of PT Bank BRI).
MWA members from the faculty is : Prof.Dr.dr.Idrus A Paturusi (Medicine), Prof.Dr.Ir.H.M/Nasir Nessa, M.S. (FIKP), Prof.Dr.Ir.Ambo Ala, M.S. (Agriculture), Prof.Dr.dr.Abd.Razak Taha, M.Sc. (FKM), Prof.Dr.M.Natsir Djide, M.S. (Pharmacy), Prof.Dr.A.Pangerang Moenta, SH, M.H. (Law), Prof.Drg. Mansyur, Ph.D. (Dentistry), and Prof.Dr.Ir.Anshar Suyuti, M.Sc. (Technique). The representative of educators consists of two people : Drs.Mukmin, S.E, M.S.Ak, and Drs Ahmad, M.Sc.
M.Tahir Kasnawi who also a member of MWA and Chairman of the Academic Senate (SA) explained that according to Regulation No. 53 Year 2015 about the Statute of Hasanuddin University, MWA task: approve the proposed changes to the statutes of Hasanuddin University, sets general policy Hasanuddin University, along with the Academic Senate sets norms and benchmarks of Hasanuddin University performance, approved the master plan of the development, strategic plan, as well as the annual plan proposed by the rector, oversee the management and general control over the management of non academic of Hasanuddin University, appoints and dismisses the rector, conduct an annual evaluation of the rector performance and SA, appoints and dismisses the chairman and members of the Commission for Academic (KA), to build and maintain the networks with individuals and organizations structural, give consideration and perform surveillance to develop and maintain the financial health of Hasanuddin University, and make the highest decision to the problems that can not be solved by the rector and SA.
M.Jusuf Kalla after hearing the exposure from rector of Hasanuddin University and chairman of the academic senate of Hasanuddin University suggested that in this organization should not be too many rules, because it would make we can not innovate. (*), (MDA-PR)
