Prof.dr.Syafruddin, Ph.D :: Great Teacher of Parasitology Science

Maybe a lot of great teachers non-Medicine are less familiar with professor of Hasanuddin University that inaugurated on Monday (04/04/2016) this. Because professor of Hasanuddin University to this 347 after grabbing a medical degree in 1985 at Hasanuddin University directly fly to the State Sakura. He studied at 'Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University' ', Japan. Once graduated and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in 1992, Syafruddin who was born in Makassar on May 16, 1960 immediately became a senior researcher at the Institute of Molecular Biology Eijkman, Jakarta.

Syafruddin not alone in this renowned biology research institute. There is Yusuf Irawan his seniors who first joined with the Prof.Dr.Sangkot Marzuki, who is also lead this prestigious institution.

Father of this four children, between the years of 1999-2004 served as Secretary and member of the Eijkman Institute Research Ethics Committee (Ethics committee for  Eijkman research institute) specializes itself in the field of biomolecular, the expertise whose undertaken first by his senior, Yusuf Irawan. Now he became a great teacher in the field of Parasitology Science, Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University.

Between the years of 2007-2013, a graduate of the Medical Faculty of Hasanuddin University in 1985 is trusted to be a member of '' National Institute of Health Research Ethics Committee (National Ethics Committee of the Institute for Health Research).

His foreign research activities contributed to Syafruddin so that he can served as a professorship at the age of 56 years. Including research which conducted by Post-Doctoral that conducted at Toyama Japan, in 1994, the Netherlands in 1997, Australia in 2000, dean of Japan four years later.

Husband of Dra.Siti Mainingsih, M.Sc in 2006 was recorded as alumni who obtain awards for scientific publications from Hasanuddin University. Two years later, a graduate of the SD Exemplary Bawakaraeng 1971 acquiring ''Paul-Ehrlich's Magic Bullet Award for the scientific contribution Germany antimalarials drug resistance in Indonesia: A moleculer analysis''.

Graduates of Senior High School 1 Makassar (1977) have already produced in at least 67 works in scientific magazines (in international peer-reviewed scientific periodicals). He also wrote two (parts of) a book entitled '' Multi-authored book: Eijkman Intitute lecture series: '' Mitochondria as a drug target '' and ''Moleculer basis of the parasite resistance to antimalarial drugs (2010) with Dr.Paul Harijanto as editor.

Syafruddin also involved in a various activities of scholarly as a member of ''panel member of the National Competitive Research Grant (RUT), International Competitive Research Grant (RUT) and Incentive Research Scheme on Applied research in Medical Technology and Medicine, organized by the Ministry of Research and Technology, 2001-2003. Being reviewer of magazine '' American Journal Tropical Medicine and Hygiene'' (2006-now). Reviewers of magazine ''Journal of medicine '' YARSI (2007-now), Reviewers of magazine ''Journal Parasitology International '' (2008-now). Reviewers of magazine '' Journal Experimental Parasitology '' (2008-now), Reviewers of magazine '' Journal Parasite ad Vector '' (2009-now), Reviewers of magazine '' Journal Andrologia '' (2009-now). And Executive Committee member of the Poverty-Related Infections Diseases-Oriented Research (PRIORI), a research funding scheme organized by the University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands''.

Alumni of Junior High School 6 Makassar (1974) also involved in the competition of International Grant (Grant Support) include the current International Grant (on going research support) with four titles. While International Grant has completed (completed research support) eleven titles.

He is also a speaker in his field in Indonesia, Switzerland, USA, Singapore, and a visiting lecturer at Kanazawa University, Japan.

Member of American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (2008 – now)  between the years of 1995 to 2016 have guided 24 students of Master Programme, 28 students of Master Programme, and 6 of Undergradute Programme. (MDA)
