Social Ministry agreed on the proposal of the Technical Unit Conduct (UPT) of the Community Service Program (KKN) Unhas, Dr. Hasrullah, M.A. to hold community service programs in Atambua, Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
Head of the KKN Unhas Dr. Hasrullah, M.A. explained, that based on the dialogue with the Director General in the Social Ministry Jakarta just a while ago, the Social Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa herself supported the conduct of community services in state borders including the Indonesia-East Timor border.
Based on the date from UPT KKN Unhas, there are 41 students that have shown interest to the Thematic KKN in Atambua, Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, a place located four hours drive away from Kupang.
Hasrullah stated that the presence of the KKN Unhas in bordering areas are hoped to significantly shift the conditions of the locals, including areas isolated, outermost, and left behind (3T) areas.
“We will send 20 students that will be known as pioneers of the community service program to the region, and have them carefully observe the issues the locals face there,” Hasrullah stated in his office, Tuesday (7/6).
