Hasanuddin University participated at the Joint Working Group (JWG) to 8th in the field of Higher Education and Research conducted at the University of La Rochelle France, a few days ago. JWG is an annual meeting between the University in Indonesia and the University in France where the implementation is held in rotation between these two states. The Indonesian delegation was led by Director General of Strengthening Innovation Dr. Jumain Appe, MSc. Of this 8th JWG was opened by HE Ambassador Fauzi Soelaiman, Ambassador/Deputy of Permanent Delegate of Indonesia to UNESCO.
JWG at this time was followed by 105 French and Indonesian institutions, which discusses seven major issues, that is Environment; Marine Science and Technology; Techniques and Renewable Energy; Information Technology and Education Technology; Law, Economics and Management; Social Sciences, Humanities, Languages and Tourism; and Health of Science, Safety and Food Safety.
Unhas actively involved since the JWG was held. In VIII JWG Unhas also actively involved in discussion panels and workshops on the creation of the consortium of the seven major issues. Discussions and workshops were conducted to evaluate the cooperation between Indonesia and France, to build sustainable partnerships and providing stable funding for each program is agreed upon, strengthen the exchange of students, teachers and researchers and overcome the language barrier, developing cooperation schemes with industry in research and training programs as well as encourage local authorities (city / province) Indonesia and France to begin cooperating in the scheme of decentralization.
This 8th JWG finally agreed on a cooperation involving a consortium scheme of universities, research institutes and industry in both countries, and Unhas actively involved to encourage the birth of the consortium.
On the sidelines of the annual meeting of this JWG, also held the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Hasanuddin University and the University of Montpellier France. This cooperation includes exchange of students, lecturers and administrative staff; exchange of publications, academic materials and related information; cooperation joint classes, conferences and research projects; and the opening of international doctoral between Unhas and the University of Montpellier. This Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Rector of Unhas Prof.Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu and the President of Montpellier University Prof. Philippe Augé.
Rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dwia Aries Tina hopes the cooperation with the University of Montpellier and the university in France generally could re-strengthen the relationships that were previously very close and active. This indicated by the number of lecturers of Unhas who graduated from the University in France, and the cooperation of research that has been done. In addition, this partnership will raise Unhas position at the international level. Cooperation with the University of Montpellier is the fifth cooperation with the University in France, after the University of Paris Sorbonne, University of Poitiers, University of Toulouse, and the University of Nantes.
