Universitas Hasanuddin Hospital (RS Unhas) now comprises of equipment known as the internal therapy that could operate in the process of tumor treatments for patients. The assistance equipment from Germany was received by the RS Unhas in 2012 and is capable of detecting tumor tissues in the womb, lungs, and jars. Similar material is present in only three other places in Indonesia. Besides Unhas, RS Cipto Mangungkusumo Jakarta and RS Dr. Sutomo Surabaya also facilitates treatments with the equipment.
“The tool is of high assistances for use after surgery and chemotherapy,” stated the President Director RS Unhas Dr. dr. Fachruddin Benyamin, when accompanying the Ethical Committee RS Unhas Prof. Dr. dr. Idrus A. Paturusi and the Head of the Internal Inspections (SPI) Unhas Prof. Dr. Syarifuddin Bin Andi Oemar, Thursday (2/6), while observing the facilities of the hospital.
This equipment, stated Fachruddin, is capable of showing pictures of the tumor in three dimensions. Not only that, RS Unhas also comprises of a robot capable of extracting the tumor tissues for biopsy.
“Therefore, we just need to set the program, then the robot will remove the tumor,” stated Fachruddin.
Besides that equipment, RS Unhas also consists of facilities in the Eye Polyclinic. The apparatus is utilized for surgeries on the retina behind the eyes. The estimated value of the equipment is IDR 5 Million.
“In the RS Unhas, approximately 50% of the patients are part of the BPJS health insurance,” stated Dr. Indriyanti Sudirman, M.Si., a Director of RS Unhas.
