Universitas Hasanuddin agreed in undergoing a partnership agreement with the Government of the Gorontalo Province, located at the Graduate School of Unhas, Friday (17/6). The signing of the MoU focuses on the fields of education, research, and community services, and directly conducted by the Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA with the Vice Governor of the Gorontalo Province Dr. Idris Rahim, MM, witnessed by the Regional Secretary Gorontalo Province Prof. Dr. Ir. Winarni Monoarfa, MS and Vice-rector IV Prof. dr. Budu, PhD.
The Vice Governor of Gorontalo during his remarks expressed his utmost willingness in establishing grounds of cooperation with Unhas, as his region has the intention of being equivalently developed as other provinces. “Gorontalo province includes as an area that is still young and in the process of developing, therefore must strive to close the gaps in development to be able to be in the same level of other provinces,” stated Idris. One of the issues faced by the region is that the rate of human resources is still low. “Therefore, there are not other outcomes besides to engage in cooperation with a higher education level that is of great reputation, such as Unhas itself,” stated Idris.
Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, MA during her remarks said that the signing of the MoU is only to strengthen the partnership. “Some of our faculties have previously engaged cooperation with the Gorontalo Government, such as Faculty of Medicine, Public health (with Universitas Negeri Gorontalo), Marine Sciences and Fisheries Unhas with DKP and Bappeda with several conducts in the coasts of Gorontalo, official training in PSKMP, and cooperation in the agricultural field with the Center for Environment,” explained Dwia. But still, with the presence of this MoU, new cooperation will surface.
