About the Program

Bachelor of Soil Science focuses on the scientific study and application of soil, land, water, and environmental sciences to support sustainable agriculture.

Strengths

In 2020, the Soil Science Program officially re-established itself after being integrated into the Agrotechnology study program within the Faculty of Agriculture for 11 years. Since 23 May 2023, the Soil Science Program has been accredited as "BAIK (good)", by BAN-PT (National Accreditation Board for Higher Education).

Specializations in the Bachelor of Soil Science consist of:

  • Soil Physics and Conservation
  • GIS and Land Use Planning
  • Soil Microbiology
  • Soil Genesis and Classification
  • Disaster Mitigation in Agricultural Land Resources and Environment

Learning Process

Teaching and learning process takes place through face-to-face interactions in classrooms, as well as through laboratory practices, field practices and internships in both government and private institutions. In addition, as part of curriculum, students can take courses in other study programs or other university. The final project consists of research that culminates in a thesis focusing on specific areas of study according to individual interests.

Career Prospects

Graduates of the Soil Science Program have career opportunities in various roles, including lecturers at both public and private universities, civil servants in ministries and local governments, researchers in the fields of soil, land, water, and environment (at BRIN, LAPAN, BNPB, Balitsereal, BIG, and BBSLDP). In addition, the alumni have opportunities to work in state-owned enterprises in the agricultural and banking sectors, and pursuing careers in mining companies and agricultural industries. Many graduates also choose careers as land surveyors, mapping consultants, land planning planners, and entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector.
