About the Program

The Faculty of Medicine was officially established on January 27, 1956. In 2016, the Medical Education Study Program was separated into two study programs, namely the Bachelor of Medicine Study Program and the Professional Doctor Study Program.

The Bachelor of Medicine and Professional Doctor Study Program consists of 9 preclinical departments and 21 clinical departments. The Faculty of Medicine, together with all its study programs, is located on Jl. Pioneers of Independence, Tamalanrea, the main campus of Hasanuddin University.

The objectives of medical education at Hasanuddin University are in accordance with the objectives of Indonesian medical education by taking into account local situations and conditions as well as the aims, vision, and mission of the university.
In the 2022–2026 period, the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Medicine is developing the concepts of HEBAT (Humanism, Excellent, Beneficence, Accountable, Transparent) and SMART (Digitalization, Modern, and Integrated).

It is hoped that this vision can encourage students at the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Medicine to develop themselves, excel, and have humanism in order to become scholar-graduates with character.

Strengths

• The advantages for FK UNHAS graduates are in the fields of tropical medicine and disaster management.
• Obtain the ASEAN University Network Actual Quality Assessment (AUN-QA) for the program level during the period from March 3, 2017 to March 2, 2021.
• The Indonesian Higher Education Independent Accreditation Institute (LAM-PTKes) has granted SUPERIOR accreditation for the year 2022.
• ASIIN International Accredited (Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik) in 2022

Areas of Specialization

Although there isn't a concentration offered, students can increase their understanding of potential job paths by taking courses in the Bachelor of Medicine study program.

Learning Process

• The FK Unhas Medical Education Study Program is a structure under the Deputy Dean for Academic and Development, who is responsible for managing the learning process in the pre-clinical phase to produce doctoral graduates in accordance with the National Medical Education Education Standards (SNPPDI 2019). Currently, the learning process in the preclinical phase lasts for 7 semesters, or 3.5 years.
• Learning is carried out in the form of blended learning lectures (a combination of e-learning and face-to-face learning in the form of active and interactive learning), practicums in the laboratory, PBL tutorials (problem-based learning), team-based learning (TBL=team-based learning), clinical skills in the Clinical Skills Laboratory (CSL), and research skills in the form of a thesis.
• Actual information about activities and academic achievements in the teaching, research, and community services of the Undergraduate Medical Study Program can be accessed via the website http://www.med.unhas.ac.id.Lectures may also be taken at universities or elsewhere as part of the curriculum.
• The final assignment is in the form of research that leads to a thesis on a particular study topic according to your interests.

Career Prospects

Graduates of the Bachelor of Medicine Study Program can continue their education in the Professional Doctor Study Program and then carry out an internship for a career as a general practice doctor in first-level health services, a company doctor, or a specialist doctor by continuing to the Specialist Education Education Program.

Performing work in a variety of non-clinical domains, such as pharmacy, health research, clinical management, head of hospital, entrepreneurship, government agencies, military, national, and international health sector organizations, or continuing postgraduate education in a range of fields, for example: Lecturer in Medical Sciences
