About the Program

The Naval Architecture Engineering Program (PSTP) is one of the study programs at the Faculty of Engineering - Hasanuddin University. PSTP was established on September 10, 1960, based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 75623/1960 (at that time it was called the Department of Naval Architecture Engineering). The Department of Naval Architecture Engineering at Hasanuddin University first admitted new students in 1960. PSTP has been accredited as "Excellent" by LAM Teknik PII, valid from August 21, 2022, to August 20, 2027.

Additionally, PSTP is also internationally accredited by The Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN e.V.), valid from June 18, 2021, to September 30, 2026.

Strengths

  • The best Maritime Engineering Study Program in Indonesia.
  • Has a curriculum focusing on ship design and construction, maritime transportation, ship hydrodynamics, and ship structures.
  • Accredited Excellent by LAM Teknik PII valid from August 21, 2022, to August 20, 2027.
  • Also internationally accredited by The Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN e.V.) valid from June 18, 2021, to September 30, 2026.

Areas of Specialization

PSTP has implemented a learning system for specializations, namely Labo-based, where these specializations consist of ship design and construction, maritime transportation, ship hydrodynamics, and ship structures.

Learning Process

  • The learning process is conducted through face-to-face lectures, practical sessions in drafting studios and laboratories (computer, ship hydrodynamics, ship production and structures, and maritime transportation).
  • The learning process also involves field activities such as internships, apprenticeships, and community service programs (KKN).
  • The learning process is also carried out by implementing the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, including internships and student exchange programs.
  • The learning process also includes the implementation of Competency Supporting Courses (MKPK).
  • Ship design assignments consist of designing tasks required for ship construction.
  • The final assignment/thesis is a research project conducted based on the specialization/Labo-based areas, which include ship design and construction, maritime transportation, ship hydrodynamics, and ship structures.

Career Prospects

PSTP produces graduates with reliable potential and skills in the field of naval architecture. Therefore, the careers of PSTP graduates are highly diverse in the maritime sector, including roles such as maritime surveyors/inspectors, ship and floating structure production and repair designers, maritime transportation system planners, and academics and educators in naval architecture. PSTP graduates are deployed in both government and private sectors, both domestically and internationally.
