About the Program
The Mining Engineering Undergraduate Study Program one of the study programs at the Engineering Faculty of Universitas Hasanuddin. The program focuses on studies regarding resource evaluation, mining methods, mine planning, mine management and valuation, mine extraction, mineral analysis and processing, and environmentally sound management strategies. The studies particularly emphasize marginal mineral deposits.
Strengths
The Mining Engineering Undergraduate Study Program has the accreditation Rating “A” based on the Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT) No. 10451/SK/BAN-PT/SURV- BDG/S/VIII/2021 until September 1, 2025 and International Accreditation Agency of ASIIN until September 30, 2027.
Areas of Specialization
Areas of interest in our Undergraduate Study Program are based on research laboratories under the Labo-based Education (LBE) concept consisting of 5 laboratories, which are :
- Mineral Exploration
- Geomechanics
- Mine Planning and Valuation
- Mineral Processing and Analysis
- Mine Environment.
Learning Process
Methods utilized in the learning process at the Mining Engineering Undergraduate Study Program consist of :
- In-person classroom learning, laboratory practice, and field experiential learning.
- Practical work/internship in mining companies.
- Students outbound to other universities as a part of the independent learning program.
- The final project, which is research that results in a bachelor thesis following the research area of the LBEs.
Career Prospects
Mining Engineering Undergraduate Study Program graduates are accepted in various institutions, such as mining companies as professional engineers, education and research institutions as researchers and educators, government bureau as mining policy managers who manage bureaucracy and policies related to the development of the mining industry. Furthermore, our graduates also work as consultants and mining entrepreneurs, who handle entrepreneurship and particular areas of the mining industry.
